ODDL offers services on both in vitro and in vivo disease state models. Age-related macular degeneration (AMD) cell models are based on induction of protein aggregation with proteasome inhibition and oxidative stress models. The methods are using human retinal pigment epithelial (RPE) cell line ARPE-19 or human embryonic stem cell based RPE cell lines. Various knockout, gene silencing and overexpression variants of cell models are available.
Our current project license for in vivo work encompasses many anterior segment diseases of the eye, such as corneal neovascularisation, dry eye syndrome, conjunctival allergy, and glaucoma. Posterior segment disease models include choroidal neovascularisation, diabetic retinopathy, dry form of AMD, and autoimmune uveoretinitis. New animal models for ocular diseases can be established based on the need. The available animal species include mice, rats and rabbits.
